Positive Thinking Tips

You are what you eat. Take in positive information. Read positive, spiritual and/or uplifting books and listen to positive, motivating CDs while you're driving in the car.

Be thankful for everything you have. Stop and take the time to really appreciate the wonderful things in your life. How about those beautiful wild flowers growing on the side of the road or the little baby in the mother's arms at the mall that smiled at you when you walked by. If you stop to think about these things and truly appreciate them, it helps you to be more upbeat.

Choose your friends wisely. You are influenced by people whether you realize it or not. Hang out with positive people and you may be surprised at how positively you are influenced by them.

Elimate high stresses from your life. Do you have high stress job? Ask yourself if the job is worth it. Perhaps it's time to move on to something more meaningful and less stressful. Are you so busy that you can't find time to relax? Perhaps it's time for some of those activities to go. When you relieve stresses from your life, it allows you to "breathe" and this generally leads to a more positive outlook on life.

Help others. There is something so incredibly rewarding and even healing when you help others. It puts you in an incredibly positive state of mind and of course it's so beneficial to the recipient.

Avoid vindictiveness. This negative state of mind only serves to keep you away from positivity. It focuses on the negative emotion of revenge and that's no good for anyone. If you've been wronged by someone, simply rise above it (you're better than that) and move on.

Do you think you have it bad? Think about those that are much worse off. Perhaps someone doesn't have any arms or legs. Or they have burned very badly and are permanently disfigured. When you think about those that have it worse than you, it makes you feel more appreciative and will help your attitude.

Teach yourself to be an optimist. Practice seeing the glass "half full" instead of "half empty". Do your best to find the good in everything. It leads to a healthier and more positive outlook on life.

Do you leave the television on at night when you are trying to sleep? If so, avoid news or heavy documentaries, as they will make you think of all the problems in the world and hurt your sleep. Try to keep the programming light, or better yet, turn the TV off altogether and think of pleasant thoughts as you drift off to sleep.

Exercising helps keep you happy believe it or not! When working out, you release endorphins just as if you were laughing.

Remember that the world is always changing. Try not to cling things. Your possessions will go out of style or wear out. Try to appreciate each passing moment - but let them pass.

Sometimes just acting in a positive or upbeat manner will improve your mood. Smile, and watch how people react to you.

You always have choices. Never act out of spite. Forget revenge or trying to get even. The only person you can control is yourself. Make that your full time job.

When you look at other people do you immediately see the positive or the negative? Make a mental list of what you like about the person you have just met or the difficult Boss. See what happens?

Stop multi-tasking for a litter while. Focus on one thing and pour yourself into it. You will lose track of time, the swirling thoughts in your head will subside and when you are done you will feel re-energized!

When you are ready to go to sleep at night think of your mind as a large house and go from room to room shutting the lights and closing the doors. Quiet your mind and drift off to sleep.

If you are worried about something try to put it in perspective. It may have a fairly large impact on your day, but will you even remember it in a year or 5 years? If not, why allow it to occupy your thoughts and waste your time?
