Default Healthy Eating Tips

Healthy Eating
Keep your portions small. Just because it’s available does not mean you have to super size your mean. If your out in a restaurant and the portions are large, share it with a friend, or take half home for lunch the next day, or just order an appetizer.

Drink lots and lots of water. It will help you feel full and it will cleanse and detoxify your system – especially your kidneys and bladder.

Everything in moderation! You don’t have to totally cut out the sweets, just cut back heavily on them. Think about it as being able to enjoy them even more because you are not eating them every single day.

Make sure to eat a wide variety of foods, and that you get foods that cover all of your basics – meat, fruit, whole grains, vegetables.

Don’t eat while watching TV. If you are not paying attention to how much you are eating, then before you have realized what you are doing you have eaten a whole bag of potato chips. If you want to enjoy a snack while watching TV, do a pre measured 100 calorie snack instead of a whole bag.

Pay attention to nutrition labels and ingredients. Sometimes foods that are low in fat or fat-free can be quite high in sugar (and calories) as compensation! Also, sometimes the added artifical sweeteners in sugar-free foods can possibly be worse for you than the sugar itself!

Learn the difference between the terms "fat-free" and "0 fat grams per serving." Something that has zero grams of fat per serving may not necessarily be fat-free. If you eat several servings of this food, you may be consuming fat! The same phrasing goes for foods in terms of trans-fat. An item that has zero grams of trans-fat per serving may not necessarily be completely free of the artery-clogging material!
