Spring Break Tips

Before you leave for your trip, make sure you have a map handy in case you get lost on the way to your destination. Some snacks for the road are always handy too!

If you want to avoid the hassle of traveling - try short trips from home that week. Plans 2 or 3 overnight stays within a few hours of home base.

Remember the purpose of Spring Break is to relax. Don't get too caught up in planning an elaborate trip. Find something that will be low stress.

Rent a house on a quiet strip of beach and split the cost with another Family. The kids will find plenty to do and the adults can have some quality time, too.

If you are going out of town ask a neighbor to watch your house. Put a few light on timers and if you have an alarm make sure you set it.

Talk to your kids before they go off on their first Spring Break with their friends. Make sure they are aware of some of the potential dangers out there.

A low cost family camping trip can be easy to organize and get every one back in touch with nature for a few days.

Pick an activity you have never tried before and give it a shot. You can do this from Home or a Resort. Skydiving is the extreme, but maybe you have never ridden a horse?

Look for deals on Time-shares. Sometimes you can buy a week that the owners isn't using and get a great deal!

If you can't bring the dog make sure there will be a spot at the kennel - they fill up fast. Or have a friend pet sit.

Where ever you go try to get the local flavor. Stay at a Bed and Breakfast instead of a chain. Stay away from fast food unless it is something you can't find near your home.

Don't Carry a lot of cash. Try to use one Credit Card for everything so that your expenses will be easy to keep track of.

If you are a creature of habit - find a place you can come back to year after year. Make sure there are enough activities nearby to keep everyone entertained.

While you are planning your trip think about trying places you might want to retire to. Its never to early to dream about the day you can finally afford to really slow down.

Use the internet. Most States offer free visitor information and will send you brochures about various points of interest.

This may be a good time to cash in your Airline or Credit Card points. You can also focus on Hotels that offer free or discounted stays for frequent travelers.

Are you getting a great deal on a destination because its Monsoon Season there? You can check weather forecasts and average temps - worldwide - before you book a trip.
